What Workbooks is
Workbooks looks like a spreadsheet but behaves like a database: every column has a type (currency, date, select, formula, and more), rows can link to rows in other worksheets, and everything updates in real time for everyone viewing the sheet. It's built for the cash-management workflows the rest of CashSheet serves — cash counts, petty cash logs, reconciliations, cash books — without the fragility of a shared spreadsheet file.
Workbooks lives at app.cashsheet.com and is included with your CashSheet account.
Signing in
- Go to
app.cashsheet.com. - You'll be redirected to
accounts.cashsheet.com— the same sign-in you use for every CashSheet product. - After signing in you land in your workspace. If you belong to more than one organization, use the workspace switcher in the top bar to change tenants.
Next to the workspace name you'll see a plan badge(Free, Standard, Premium, or Enterprise). Hover it to see your current usage against your plan's limits. See Plans and limits.
The building blocks
- Workspace — the top-level container for your organization. Dashboards live at this level.
- Folders — optional grouping for workbooks (by team, by location, by year — whatever fits).
- Workbook — a set of related worksheets, like a spreadsheet file. Plan limits on workbook count apply here.
- Worksheet — a single grid of typed columns and rows. Rows-per-worksheet limits apply here.
- Views — saved combinations of filters, sorting, and grouping on a worksheet. See Views, filters, and grouping.
Your first workbook
Click New workbook. You can start two ways:
- From a template. Built-in templates — including Daily Cash Count, Petty Cash Log, and Cash Book — arrive with typed columns and working formulas (a cash count template, for example, computes
Value × Countper denomination). Templates are the fastest way to see what a well-structured worksheet looks like. - Blank. You get one worksheet with a primary text column and a few starter rows. Add columns as you go.
You can also import a CSV into any worksheet — see Import, export, and the API.
A tour of the grid
- Cells edit in place; changes save immediately and appear for other viewers in real time.
- Column headers open the column menu: rename, change type, configure options, delete.
- The toolbar holds filters, sort, and group-by controls, plus the view switcher.
- Row expansion opens a row's detail panel — all fields, attachments, and the comment thread with @mentions.
- The bell in the top bar collects notifications (mentions, automation activity) and updates live.
